General Records, 1918–1931

1918-1931

This series includes the following records: 1) minutes of meetings and various councils, plenary sessions, committees, and commissions of the peace conference; 2) reports of committees and commissions; 3) telegrams sent and received by the American Commission; 4) letters sent and received by the American Commission; 5) instructions sent by the Commission to its field missions and reports received from field missions; 6) memorandums, publications, and pamphlets; 7) minutes of meetings of the Conference of Ambassadors, 1920-31, which was organized to consider certain political questions following the termination of the peace conference. There are also a number of documents that have no relation to questions considered by the Peace Conference. This can be explained by the fact that President Woodrow Wilson and Secretary of State Robert Lansing were in Paris with the American Commission for several months and conducted the business of state, which naturally included issues not connected with the peace conference.
